House of Representatives went on vacation without voting on aid to Ukraine

The US House of Representatives has decided to adjourn until February 28 without voting on a bill to provide financial assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. White House Speaker Andrew Bates said in a memo seen by The Hill that Republican Mike Johnson was taking time off and going on vacation "instead of putting an end to the damage he is doing to our national security."

According to the publication, according to the calendar of meetings of the House of Representatives, no hearings are scheduled after February 15 and until the end of the month. Thus, this body will not be able to vote on the bill to provide assistance to Ukraine, Israel and US allies in the Asia-Pacific region totaling $95.3 billion, of which $60 billion was supposed to be transferred to Ukraine.

Bates emphasized in his note that "instead of ending his politicization of the nation's security, Speaker Johnson is cutting and running, sending the House of Representatives on an early, undeserved vacation as he continues to bolster Russia's bloody war effort and the Iranian regime."

According to a White House spokesperson, "every day that Speaker Johnson causes our national security to deteriorate, America loses."

"And every day that he delays a clean vote, the Republicans' standing in Congress with the American people falls. Running away for an early vacation only exacerbates both problems," Bates said.
