The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov said that Russia planned but failed to implement the most expensive information and psychological operation in its history against Ukraine. This was reported on the DIU's Telegram channel.
"They could not find anything better than to call this operation "Maidan-3" - that's how it was officially called in their documents. This is the most expensive operation for them and it has already almost failed," Budanov said during the "Ukraine. Year 2024" forum.
According to him, as part of this operation, the Russian Federation planned to create a situation in Ukraine "in which the legitimacy of decision-making in Ukraine after May 20 this year would be questioned."
"They counted on a certain unrest in Ukrainian society in this regard, which would be projected onto our army. After that, having sowed double thoughts in our army, in the first half of June they planned to inflict a military defeat in the east, taking advantage of the previously shaken situation in the army. But they will not be able to inflict a military defeat, and this special operation has already failed," Budanov added.
