It would be a serious historical mistake to allow Putin to win - Stoltenberg

The Ukrainian military is running out of ammunition and needs help from partners and allies right now. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a briefing

"Together we can provide Ukraine with everything it needs. We need to show the political will to do so," he said.

Stoltenberg noted that the Ukrainian people have enough courage, but not enough shells. He emphasized that NATO countries must "dig deep and fast" because delay will lead to "real consequences on the battlefield."

"This is a critical moment. It would be a serious historical mistake to let Putin win," he emphasized.

The NATO Secretary General said that two-thirds of the citizens of NATO member states support the continuation of assistance to Ukraine.

"In general, two-thirds of respondents in NATO countries want their countries to continue supporting Ukraine. And this is important, because NATO countries provide 99% of all military aid," Stoltenberg said, adding that this shows high support for further assistance to Ukraine.

He also said that over the past two years of the war, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been striking at Russian Black Sea Fleet ships with missiles supplied by the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to him, Ukraine's strikes on Russian Black Sea Fleet ships were carried out with Scalp and Storm Shadow missiles supplied by NATO countries, and this, in Stoltenberg's opinion, "confirms the importance of increasing missile supplies" to Kyiv. At the same time, the Secretary General did not specify who was conducting the reconnaissance and targeting during the strikes.
