Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law on social protection of military personnel

Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada in the second reading adopted draft law No. 10313 "On amendments to some laws of Ukraine regarding ensuring the rights of military personnel and police officers to social protection." People's deputy from the "Voice" Party, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, reported this.

In total, as the people's deputy notes, the relevant draft law was supported by 296 deputies.

Before that, the Committee finalized the document:

  • supported the possibility of servicemen being treated for up to 12 months, in particular abroad, without the need to pass a military medical commission after four months;
  • established at the level of the law a cash payment of 15 million hryvnias to the family of a soldier who died in the war.

As previously reported in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, this document also provides for the solution of other problematic issues of the social sphere in the army:

  • it is possible to receive a one-time leave upon the birth of a child with the preservation of financial support in full;
  • the possibility is established for wounded servicemen based on the decision of the MMC to be treated abroad for more than four months if necessary;
  • norms are established regarding the prevention of violations related to gender discrimination or sexual harassment;
  • the issue of providing personnel in the chaplaincy service is resolved, giving permission to recruit civilians to the positions of military chaplains.

At the same time, this draft law provides for the introduction of new powers for state bodies on humanitarian aid issues related to the mandatory quality control of humanitarian aid provided to the Defense Forces. It also establishes responsibility for the lack of official quality control of goods (items) of humanitarian aid.
