The Alliance is ready for a conflict with Russia, - Chairman of the NATO Military Committee

The Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said that the Alliance countries are prepared for a potential direct clash with Russia. This was stated by the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, in an interview with ArmyInform.

Admiral Bauer emphasized that the change in the security situation caused by Russia's occupation of Crimea in 2014 forced NATO to revise its defense strategy and begin to return to collective security.

"Now we all realize that time is not on our side when it comes to returning to collective security. Because the enemy decides when and where they attack you and how long the conflict will last. Ukraine, unfortunately, has seen this for itself. Are we ready? Answer: Yes! This is our main task - to be ready. If it happens today, then you have to fight with what you have. It's always a combination of being prepared for today and at the same time improving opportunities for the future," said Rob Bauer.

The Admiral also noted that modern warfare has different dimensions, including cyberspace and space attacks, and Russia has the ability to influence different regions of the world. Therefore, NATO constantly monitors its actions and reacts to them.

The consequences of the war against Ukraine have weakened Russia, and the replenishment and modernization of its troops is complicated by Western sanctions, the admiral said.
