Presidents of Ukraine and Finland sign security agreement

The Presidents of Ukraine and Finland, Volodymyr Zelensky and Alexander Stubb, have signed an agreement on security cooperation and long-term support between the countries.


It is noted that the President of Finland is on a visit to Ukraine and met with Zelensky in Kyiv.


"This visit demonstrates Finland's strong and unwavering support for Ukraine," the Finnish president's press service said in a statement.


At the end of the meeting, the two presidents signed an agreement on security cooperation and long-term support between Finland and Ukraine.


"The ten-year agreement is a demonstration of Finland's long-term commitment to support Ukraine. It covers several sectors, including political support, support for Ukraine's defense and security, as well as support for Ukraine's reforms and recovery," the statement said.

 

For his part, Zelensky said that the security guarantee agreement is a strong document that demonstrates Finland's readiness to continue supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia.


"Finland will provide long-term military and financial assistance, as well as deepen cooperation with Ukraine in the political, financial, humanitarian and reform fields," he said.


The President also added that Finland would help Ukraine restore its energy sector, assess environmental damage, strengthen border and critical infrastructure protection, and treat Ukrainian soldiers.
