Zelensky signs law on changes to conditions of mobilization

On Tuesday, April 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on improving certain issues of mobilization, military registration and military service. This is stated in the draft law card on the Rada's website.

Currently, the Rada's website states that the president has signed the draft law.

Earlier, on April 16, it was signed by the head of the parliament. After the president signs the bill, it is to be published in the official parliamentary publication Holos Ukrayiny.

The law will come into force one month after its publication. The law provides for a reduction in the conscription age from 27 to 25 years, and abolishes the status of "limitedly fit".

Citizens permanently living abroad must register for military service in Ukraine.

The Cabinet of Ministers will determine how they should do this. In addition, civilian men aged 25 to 55 who received disabilities of groups II and III after the full-scale invasion (except for the military) must undergo a medical and social examination to confirm its conclusions.

Also, those convicted to a suspended sentence may be called up for military service, except for those who have committed crimes against the national security of Ukraine. There will be no mandatory mobilization of women.

Basic military service is introduced instead of conscription. Citizens from 18 to 25 years of age pass it. Men under 60 who have not completed basic military training or military service will not be able to join the civil service.
