In a new military aid package to Ukraine worth nearly $1 billion, the United States may transfer ATACMS missiles with a range of nearly 300 km for the first time. CNN writes about this, citing its sources.

The publication's interlocutors said that at briefings before Congress in recent weeks, representatives of the Biden administration stated that the United States would most likely send long-range ATACMS to Ukraine for the first time.

As a reminder, this package must be approved by US President Joe Biden after the Senate votes on a new bill on financing Ukraine, which was previously supported by Congress.

It is worth noting that last autumn, the Americans sent to Ukraine for the first time a variant of the ATACMS medium-range missile system, which can reach about 160 km, while the longer-range version can reach 305 km.
