A sabotage and reconnaissance group penetrated the territory of Sumy region. The Russians ambushed the group and the border guards engaged in combat. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service.
"Border guards engaged in a battle with a Russian subversive reconnaissance group in the Sumy region," the agency said in a statement.
It is reported that a firefight broke out and the enemy retreated.
"An enemy ambush with more than a dozen saboteurs was detected by border guards in one of the directions. A firefight ensued. The reserves of the State Border Guard Service and Defense Forces were sent to reinforce the units, artillery and mortar crews were deployed," the SBGS said.
