Disinformation about negotiations on the exchange of children: Ukraine denied Lvova-Belova's statement

The Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC, citing Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, issued a statement rejecting information about "the first face-to-face negotiations" between Ukraine and Russia on the exchange of children.

The source of the disinformation was Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, who in her statement on April 24 claimed that negotiations were underway.

However, according to Lubinets, the return of Ukrainian children and negotiations are taking place with the mediation of Qatar and Qatari diplomats.

The Center believes that Lvova-Belova's statement could have been aimed at minimizing Russia's responsibility for the forced deportation of Ukrainian children.

Earlier, we reported that Ukrainian representatives held face-to-face talks with their Russian counterparts for the first time with the participation of mediators from Qatar on the return of children.
