Ukraine has caught up with Russia in the production of Shahed type drones, - Ukroboronprom CEO

In 2024, Ukraine caught up with Russia in the production of kamikaze drones, which are similar to Shaheds. This was stated by Ukroboronprom CEO Herman Smetanin.

Private companies are unable to produce the required number of drones for the Defense Forces, so contracts are signed for licensed production at Ukroboronprom's facilities. Allegedly, thanks to this, it was possible to increase the production of kamikaze drones similar to the Shahed-131 and Shahed-136.

“In 2024, Ukraine caught up with Russia in terms of production of kamikaze drones similar to Shahed-131 and Shahed-136, as well as in the production of other attack drones. As Oleksandr Kamyshyn, Minister of Strategic Industry, said: "Everything that explodes in Russia is ours." And this is a fact,” Smetanin said.

He also added that cooperation with private manufacturers continues, and a large number of private developers and scientists are involved in the development of new types of weapons. Ukroboronprom's CEO claims that there are innovative developments that meet the needs of tomorrow.
