No evacuation is planned: Kharkiv accepts IDPs from the region

According to Kharkiv mayor Ihor Terekhov, as of May 15, there is no plan to evacuate Kharkiv residents. On the contrary, people are arriving in the city from those areas of the region where active military operations are ongoing.

Ihor Terekhov emphasized that the city currently provides assistance to about 6,000 people who have been placed in dormitories and provides with everything necessary for their comfort and safety.

He also noted that the city faced problems with electricity supply after the shelling in March, which led to the destruction of all thermal power plants and transformer substations.

Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational and strategic grouping of troops, confirmed that Kharkiv is protected, but that Russians are trying to sow panic among the civilian population. This situation has led to extreme tension, in particular, in the field of electricity supply.
