NATO allies are gradually approaching the decision to send their troops to Ukraine, which will be used to train Ukrainian soldiers. This is stated in an article by The New York Times.

The publication notes that such a decision could involve the USA and Europe in a war.

“This step would be another blurring of the previous ‘red line’ and could directly draw the United States and Europe into war,” the article says.

The journalists also state that Ukraine lacks the forces to train troops, and the situation on the battlefield has worsened due to the Russian offensive. Therefore, Ukrainian officials have asked their American and NATO counterparts to help train 150,000 soldiers closer to the front line for faster deployment.

Officially, the US has not supported this idea, but Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Brown believes this process is inevitable. Brown said that potentially deployed NATO instructors in Ukraine could be at risk, so they would have to use air defense systems that Ukraine could use near the battlefield to protect them.

At the same time, the White House refuses to send even instructors to Ukraine and calls on its NATO allies to follow their example.

Moving the training to Ukraine, as the military admits, would allow American instructors to gather information about innovations on the front lines more quickly, potentially allowing them to adopt their training.

Last month, NATO asked General Christopher Cavoli to come up with ways the alliance could help Ukraine while reducing potential risks. A US official said on Wednesday that one of the possibilities could be the training of Ukrainian troops in Lviv.
