Russia's attack on Sumy region cannot be ruled out, - SBGS spokesman

A Russian offensive in the direction of Sumy should not be ruled out. Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, said this on Radio Liberty.

“It can never be ruled out, and I have emphasized this, including in the Sumy direction. The enemy may at any time, even though it does not have sufficient forces, try to do something similar to what is happening now in the Kharkiv direction. It is in order to stretch the front line, the line of active hostilities and actually stretch the defense forces of our country,” said Demchenko.

Demchenko reminded that the border with Russia is quite long.

“It is more than 560 kilometers in Sumy region alone. And, in fact, even involving the forces we have, which we can involve there, we must maintain our strong defense, because the enemy is superior in terms of equipment, munitions, and personnel, unfortunately,” the speaker said.

Demchenko also emphasized that defense in this direction should be further strengthened.
