Operational information as of 18.00 - AFU General Staff

Operational information as of 1800 18.03.2022 on the Russian invasion.

Twenty-third day of heroic resistance of Ukrainian people to Russian military invasion is on. Continuing attempts to restore combat efficiency of some units involved in combat operations, military leadership of Russian Federation plans to transfer some units from 102nd Russian military base in Armenia to the territory of Ukraine.

It is confirmed that some servicemen of the Russian Federation refuse to participate in combat operations due to low level of moral and psychological condition of the Russian occupants after clashes with the defense forces. For example, 130 servicemen of the 20th mechanized infantry division of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District have refused to take part in military actions at the permanent deployment point.

Enemy personnel are demoralized, suicides and self-inflicted injuries are on the rise. Due to the lack of positive results and inability to fulfill the assigned tasks, it is planned to remove Colonel Vadim Pankov, commander of the 45th separate brigade of special-purpose airborne troops of the Armed Forces of Russia, from service. He is accused of failing to perform a combat mission at the Gostomel airfield.

The pro-government Russian media continue to spread false information about the armed aggression of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine. The creation and dissemination of staged propaganda videos to discredit the activities of the military and political leadership and the Ukrainian defense forces continues unabated in all available information channels, including in the European Union and the United States.

In the city of Dzhankoy, in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, education in local general educational institutions was suspended with their subsequent use for the accommodation of the Russian Federation Armed Forces personnel arriving in the city.

In Chernihiv Oblast, Russian occupants intimidate local residents in order to suppress civilian resistance.

The occupiers continue to brazenly violate the norms of International Humanitarian Law and destroy the infrastructure of the cities, creating preconditions for the deepening of the humanitarian crisis.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to liberate the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine step by step in all directions.
