The Kremlin reacted to Finland's decision to join NATO

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov made a statement that Finland's accession to NATO would threaten Russia.

This was reported by Interfax.

"Absolutely. Another NATO expansion does not make our continent more stable and secure," Peskov said when asked about the threat because of Finland's accession.

"Different options are always being considered and analyzed," Peskov responded regarding whether the Kremlin had calculated the risks of other neighboring countries joining NATO.

He also said Russia would conduct a special analysis after Finland's accession to NATO in order to develop the necessary security measures.

"If you remember, there is an instruction from the current president and commander-in-chief to develop a list of measures to strengthen our western flanks in connection with the strengthening of NATO's eastern flank. NATO is moving in our direction. So, of course, all of this will be elements for a special analysis and the development of the necessary measures to balance the situation and ensure our security.
