Russian Gazprom has changed its mind to cut gas supplies to Moldova

Russian monopolist Gazprom will not cut gas supplies to Moldova through the Suja gas measuring station, as it threatened to do since November 28. This is reported by Newsmaker.

This decision was made by the concern in connection with the fact that Moldovagaz "eliminated the violations regarding the payment of current deliveries of Russian gas in November."

"Gazprom received the money for the gas that settled on the territory of Ukraine, intended for the consumers of Moldova. In this regard, it was decided not to reduce the supply of gas to the Suja GIS for transit to Moldova," the Russian company reported. .

At the same time, Gazprom noted "regular violation by the Moldovan side of its contractual obligations regarding the payment of Russian gas supplies."

"Gazprom reserves the right to reduce or completely stop the supply of gas in case of non-payment," the Russian concern said.

It should be noted that the head of Moldovagaz, Vadym Cheban, announced on November 28 that the company fulfilled its payment obligations regarding the advance (for new volumes) to the natural gas supplier.

Cheban said that by November 21, Moldovagaz transferred to Gazprom 50% of the advance for November, or $21.41 million. Due to the fact that more gas began to flow to the right bank of the Dniester, the amount of the advance for November increased to $41.9 million.

"I would like to inform you that Moldovagaz transferred the specified debt to Gazprom, thereby fulfilling its payment obligations regarding the advance (for new volumes) to the natural gas supplier," Cheban said.

We will remind, on Tuesday, November 22, "Gazprom" announced that it "records the subsidence in Ukraine of Russian gas intended for supply to Moldovan consumers under the contract with Moldovagaz." According to publicly available data of the operator of the Ukrainian gas transportation network, in the first 20 days of November, Moldova received approximately 29 million cubic meters of gas less than it should have received with a daily supply of 5.7 million cubic meters. The company threatened that if the "transit imbalance through Ukraine for the consumers of Moldova" persists, on November 28 at 10:00 a.m., Gazprom will begin reducing the supply of gas to the Suja GIS for transit through Ukraine to the extent of undersupply.
