The Minister of Culture of Ukraine will fly to Tbilisi for the funeral of Vakhtang Kikabidze

The Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko will arrive in Tbilisi tomorrow morning - he will attend the funeral of the Georgian actor and singer, People's Artist of Georgia Vakhtang Kikabidze.

 

 It is planned that Tkachenko will read the statement of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi at the farewell ceremony in the Great Concert Hall (Philharmonic Hall), UNN was informed at the Embassy of Ukraine.

 

 According to the "News-Georgia" agency, Vakhtang Kikabidze actively supported Ukraine and liked to attend concerts there. In 2013, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine.

 

 In February 2022, Kikabidze condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Last August, he spent all the proceeds from his jubilee concert to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

 

 The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyі, was one of the first to express his condolences in connection with the artist's death, calling Kikabidze "a great man of a great nation."

 

 According to the decision of the family, Kikabidze's coffin is covered with two flags - Georgian and Ukrainian.

 

 Vakhtang Kikabidze died last Sunday at the age of 85. According to the will, he will be buried at the Veriya cemetery in Tbilisi, next to his mother's grave.
