Khachapuridze: Since the law in Georgia is dead, we will appeal to the ECtHR

According to the statement of the defense attorney of the third president of Georgia, Mykhailo Saakashvili, Shalva Khachapuridze, the lawyers will appeal the decision of the judge of the Tbilisi City Court, Georgiy Arevadze, in the European Court of Human Rights.

According to him, the judge made a political decision today.

"Of course, we expected this decision. I could not even imagine that our court would make a different decision. Unfortunately, a judicial system has been formed in Georgia that serves one or another political power - of course, the ruling power...

In recent court hearings, it has become clear that the judge was biased and protected the rights of the Prison Service, but his decision will be put to a very serious test in a few days. Since the law in Georgia is dead, we will, of course, appeal to the European Court of Human Rights," InterpressNews quotes Khachapuridze as saying.

Today, February 6, the Tbilisi City Court refused to postpone the execution of the sentence in the case of the former president of Georgia, Mykhailo Saakashvili. The decision was announced by judge Giorgiy Arevadze, thus not satisfying the request of Saakashvili's lawyers.
