In Tbilisi, the police prevented the march of activists with EU flags

Opposition activists marched with Georgian and EU flags on Rustaveli Avenue, where events dedicated to Independence Day are taking place.

According to the media, one of the participants of the action was detained by the police, saying that he did not obey the legal requirements of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the head of the patrol police Vazha Siradze, the activist tried to break through the police line.

The police did not allow the participants of the procession to go to Freedom Square, where the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, was speaking at that time.

As previously reported, social media users associated the absence of the EU flag on Georgia's Independence Day with a change in the government's foreign policy course. The opposition party "Lelo" will hold another march with the flags of the EU and Georgia today.
