Plan B for Ukraine: Lithuania declassifies reserve mechanism of military aid from the EU

European Union countries may agree to finance military aid to Ukraine with the participation of not all 27 members of the bloc. This is a backup plan in case the format through the European Peace Fund is not agreed upon. This was stated by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis to journalists before a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

The Minister asked about the prospects of approving military aid to Ukraine through the European Peace Fund.

According to Landsbergis, he sees chances to move forward on this issue.

"There are proposals that countries that do not want to participate may not do so. This means that my country and other countries that will participate will take on a heavy burden. We, Lithuania, are ready for this... That is, it will not be 27 member states, but a smaller group of countries," the Lithuanian Foreign Minister emphasized.
