On Monday, social media spread the news that Volodymyr Zelensky was dismissing Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. On the fourth day after this story, the president's decree on the resignation of the commander-in-chief did not appear. This is stated in the material of RBC-Ukraine.


The publication reveals the possible reasons for the conflict between them and assesses the probability of Zaluzhnyi's dismissal, as well as considers possible candidates for the position.


The conflict between Zelensky and Zaluzhnyi first came to light in April 2022, just a few weeks after the start of the Russian invasion. Members of the presidential team noted that Zaluzhnyi "took a wrong turn" when talking about the Russians' withdrawal from Kyiv shortly after the invasion.


Zelensky immediately dismissed the information about the conflict with the chairman publicly, accusing political opponents of spreading rumors. However, on the same day, Zaluzhnyi announced the creation of his charity fund to help the army. This initiative quickly changed its name, but it was perceived on Bankova Street as a manifestation of the chairman's political ambitions.


This conflictual relationship between Zelensky and Zaluzhnyi became the main topic of the week, but there was no official confirmation of the resignation. RBC-Ukraine points out that Bankova has been considering this issue for a long time.


The level of support for the Armed Forces also became known, rising to 98% after the invasion, surpassing even Zelensky's own support. Zaluzhnyi's popularity has suddenly increased, turning him into a national figure.


Members of Zelensky's team admit that they actively promoted this topic, especially the head of the office, Andriy Yermak. Zelensky has found himself in a situation where the popularity of the head of the Security Service has exceeded his own. The possibility of Zaluzhnyi's dismissal is being considered, and the likelihood of candidates to replace him as head is being analyzed.
