U.S. statements about Russia's impending attack on Ukraine are based on open and classified data - Price

The US claims about a particularly large accumulation of Russian armed forces near Ukraine's borders and a possible attack are based on open and classified data. State Department spokesman Ned Price said this, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

"You can all see the reasons for our concerns in the public domain. In addition, some of our data is secret," said Ned Price, meeting with reporters.

Price pointed out the similarities between Russia's behavior now and in the past. In his opinion, this indicates Russia's clear aggressive intentions. At the same time, he refused to give a direct answer to the question: what will be the reaction of Washington in case of aggravation of the situation.

"We don't want to announce our plans in advance," the U.S. State Department spokesman said.

It should be noted that on Sunday it was reported that Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, claims that Russia has concentrated over 92,000 troops near Ukraine's borders and is preparing for an attack in late January or early February 2022, with US and Ukrainian intelligence estimates of the timing of this attack almost identical.

"Our estimates are almost the same as those of our American colleagues," Budanov told Military Times.
