As part of the European sanctions against Russia, Italy has been closing ports to Russian ships since April 17. The ban also applies to ships that changed flags after February 24. This is reported by repubblica.it. 

It is reported that Russian vessels, which are now in Italian ports, will have to leave immediately after the end of commercial activities.

Note that under the European sanctions, it is forbidden to accept Russian vessels in the ports of EU member states.

"This measure also applies to ships that changed their flag from Russian to any other after February 24, 2022," the circular says.

At the same time, the ban does not apply to ships in need of assistance or shelter, which require access to ports for security reasons or which have rescued people at sea.
