Russia reacted to Germany's intention to increase the army

The Russian Federation will monitor Germany's intention to increase the number of its armed forces. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, writes UNN.

"We will closely monitor the announced rearmament and a possible increase in the number of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, taking into account its existing international legal obligations on restraint in the military sphere," Zakharova said.

Zakharova noted that Germany's intention to have the largest army in Europe among NATO countries indicates that the country "has taken a course toward an emerging remilitarization."

"How this can end, unfortunately, is well known from history," the diplomat noted.
