The head of "Ukrenergo": the greatest damage caused by the Russians to the energy system of Ukraine is probably already over

However, according to Kudrytsky's forecasts, spring and summer still "can be difficult"

The head of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, said that the greatest damage caused by Russian shelling to the Ukrainian energy system is probably already behind us - in particular, thanks to the improvement of Ukraine's air defense.

 He told Bloomberg about it.

Since the end of September, the Ukrainian energy system has suffered 15 mass bombings, as a result of which more than 40% of its energy facilities were damaged.

"Currently, we have reached a plateau - there is no further degradation. We can rebuild at the same pace as the destruction, and sometimes even faster," said Kudrytskyi.

In his opinion, Moscow is losing its ability to cause "significant damage" to the Ukrainian energy system, however, according to Kudrytskyi's forecasts, spring and summer still "may be difficult."

"If the shelling stops and we are given the opportunity to recover without interruption, then it is likely that we will achieve a long deficit-free period, but we cannot count on it," he says.

However, "we should not relax and think that Russia's airstrike campaign is over," he said.

Direct damage to Ukraine's power grid will be calculated in "hundreds of millions of dollars," Kudrytskyi said, and economic losses will reach "billions." A preliminary estimate will appear in the coming weeks.
