This is the 54th package provided by the administration of US President Joe Biden from the Defense Department's stockpile for Ukraine since August 2021, according to the Pentagon's website.

The new US aid package includes:

  • additional ammunition for the NASAMS air defense system;
  • Stinger anti-aircraft missiles;
  • components of air defense systems;
  • additional ammunition for HIMARS MLRS;
  • 155-mm and 105-mm artillery shells;
  • TOW missiles with optical guidance;
  • Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
  • more than 15 million rounds of ammunition for small arms;
  • ammunition for demining obstacles;
  • spare parts, medical equipment, maintenance and other auxiliary equipment.

"In the new year, Congress needs to make a decision as soon as possible on the additional request of the president on national security issues to ensure continued support for Ukraine, as well as an opportunity for Ukraine to defend itself against ongoing attacks by [aggressor country] Russia and to consolidate and expand its military successes," the Pentagon said in a statement.
