Ex-head of SBU Naumov released in Serbia

Andriy Naumov, the former head of the SBU's Main Internal Security Directorate, who was sentenced to a year in prison in Serbia for money laundering, has been released from prison, BBC reports.

Reportedly, the former SBU official, whom Serbia refused to extradite to Ukraine, where he is a defendant in several criminal cases, was released from a Serbian prison in early December.

However, his documents were confiscated and he was forbidden to leave the country due to an appeal against his sentence.

"He is not yet allowed to leave the country and his location until the appeal process is completed," the court in Nis told the Serbian BBC service.

Naumov's lawyers filed an appeal against the decision to ban him from leaving Serbia, arguing that his life was in danger, but the court rejected it.

As a reminder, Naumov left Ukraine on February 23, a few hours before the Russian invasion, and was arrested in Serbia on suspicion of money laundering.
