Blinken: Putin's plan to wipe Ukraine off the map and include it in the Russian Federation has failed

Putin's plans for Ukraine have failed. This statement was made by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh, The Guardian reports.

Blinken believes that the Russian president's plans were to first "wipe Ukraine off the map and then include it in Russia."

"By effectively uniting many countries, we helped the incredibly courageous Ukrainians repel aggression, and now it is a constant effort and a constant struggle, but the plans that Vladimir Putin had for Ukraine to initially wipe it off the map, to include it in Russia, no longer exist. It has failed," Blinken said.

According to him, many countries, both in Europe and beyond, have united in recognizing that "there has been an aggression not only against Ukraine, but also against some of the fundamental principles of the international system."

"And if we left this challenge unpunished, potential aggressors around the world would likely take note, and we would have a world where there would be more conflict, not less," the US Secretary of State added.

Blinken also added that there is now an alliance in Europe that is "stronger, bigger than it was."

"And I think we have a plan that will allow Ukraine to become a successful country over time. A strong country: militarily, economically, democratically," he emphasized.
