Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has been operated on for the second time, according to doctors, who say his condition remains very serious. Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák said this from private sources, citing data from Denník N.


According to him, Fico underwent a two-hour operation, during which doctors tried to improve his condition. Kaliňák also emphasized that the situation remains very serious.


The surgery, which took place today, was aimed at improving wound healing after a gunshot wound. The medical staff noted that the first four days after the injury would be the most difficult, but they noted progress in the patient's condition.


Miriam Lapunikova, director of the hospital in Banská Bystrica, said that a control computer tomography showed the need to remove the necrotic tissue left after the injury. She also confirmed Fico's serious condition, but noted that they managed to stabilize him.


The expert council is now considering the next steps in the prime minister's treatment, and details will be made public later on social media.
