IMF agrees to open a special account to channel financial aid to Ukraine

The Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved the opening of a special administrative account to channel donor countries' money to help Ukraine.

This was reported by IMF Deputy Executive Director Vladyslav Rashkovan.

It is noted that to such a special account will be sent 1 billion dollars from Canada for Ukraine.

"We and the Ministry of Finance lobbied for this decision together with the government of Canada, but from the very beginning we also received the support of the Netherlands, Poland, Scandinavian and Baltic countries," he said.

The decision to create such an IMF board instrument was made April 8, and a day earlier, Canadian Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced that the government would send up to 1 billion Canadian dollars in support of Ukraine through this account.

"We are working with other countries," Rashkovan added.
