The number of supporters of an early cease-fire with Russia at any cost is growing in Germany - Melnik

Germans are frightened by the fact that the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine may continue for a very long time. Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"Unfortunately, we have to state that in Germany itself there are a growing number of voices in favor of the conclusion of an early ceasefire at any cost, because few can really imagine the defeat of Russia," he stressed.

According to Melnik, Germans are frankly frightened by the fact that this war, which has already led to unprecedented inflation, may continue for a very long time and jeopardize their well-being.

"In fact, all this declining sentiment is a significant challenge for us for the future, because it will increase the pressure on the German government. At the same time, I would like to reassure readers: there was no wringing of hands during the mentioned visit of the European Quartet," the ambassador added.
