WSJ: Macron says no US or NATO involvement would be needed if Russia strikes French troops in Ukraine

Macron told the United States and NATO that their involvement would not be required if French troops in Ukraine were attacked. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing an unnamed American official.

According to the official, the administration of US President Joe Biden was concerned that Russia could target any French troops that might go to Ukraine, which could draw NATO into the war.

He noted that Macron told the allies that there would be no need to involve NATO or the United States if Russia attacked French troops, as France had suffered losses in military campaigns in Africa without asking for help from allies.
