NATO reinforces its own weapons stockpile and provides aid to Ukraine due to the Russian threat

NATO countries clearly understand the threat posed by Russia, so they are restoring the capacity of their military-industrial complexes to increase their own weapons stockpiles and at the same time help Ukraine in the war against Russia. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov on the air of the national telethon.

"Our partners are well aware of the real threat from Russia. Therefore, they are gradually turning, so to speak, to face the military-industrial complex. NATO partners are simultaneously pursuing two goals: to increase their own weapons stockpiles and, of course, to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Klimenkov said.

It is noted that NATO has already signed a contract for the purchase of 220,000 rounds of 155 mm ammunition worth $1.2 billion, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stolenberg said that the allies have increased the production of ammunition for both their own stockpiles and for supplies to Ukraine.

"In total, since NATO leaders agreed on the Alliance's Defense Production Action Plan in July 2023, NATO has ordered ammunition worth about $10 billion. This is quite a large amount, and in addition to the above-mentioned munitions, NATO decided to spend another $5.5 billion on a thousand Patriot missiles and $4 billion on artillery shells, anti-tank guided missiles, tank ammunition, etc. NATO has also decided to purchase 6 reconnaissance aircraft," Klimenkov said, adding that such contracts demonstrate the ability of the transatlantic defense industry to strengthen NATO and support Ukraine.
