The Trypillia TPP was destroyed because Ukraine had no missiles left to protect it. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with PBS.

"The Trypillia power plant, the light in the Kyiv region depends on it. There were 11 missiles flying. We destroyed the first seven, four destroyed Trypillia. Why? Because there were zero missiles. We ran out of all missiles that protected Trypillia," the president said.

That is, the air defense missiles ran out right during the attack after the first 7 Russian missiles were shot down.

As a reminder, Trypillia TPP was the largest electricity producer in the capital region of Ukraine and the last power plant controlled by the state-owned Centrenergo.
